latest comment from Antoine Vella, 03/07/2024 15:06: For the record, and quite apart from the attempt by Steward to discredit Fearne, we have to remember that Carmen Ciantar was undeservedly appointed by Fearne CEO of the Foundation for Medical Services with a salary of €163,000, without any call for applications and without being qualified for the job. The NAO had described this appointment as 'irregular'. Her only qualification is that she is a canvasser of Chris Fearne who, very generously gave her a salary of over €13,000 a month (like Sai Mizzi). And before that she was CEO of Transport Malta, Director of Arms Ltd, and of the MTA. When Fearne resigned from minister, the new Minister for Health kicked her out of her cushy job and she was immediately given a new one as 'Governor' of the Gaming Authority. It would seem that her MA in Tourism gave her a lot of skills. So, as Ciantar whines about being 'collateral' damage she does not complain about all the collateral benefit that came her way thanks to her political contacts.

A few years ago the PL made stories about how the NP was divided, how factions within the PN were fighting each other, which by the way was pure tripe, but now the page has turned. In m opinion the Police Commsiioner should be responsible to the Preseident of the Republic amd that the President should have a constituionally established Council of State to advise her in the exercise of her responsibilities including those relating to the appointment of the Police Commissioner. The requirment of a two thirds majority as proposed by the PN is a step in the right direction .
